Clearing a loved one's home is one of the most emotionally difficult things you can do. We understand that. Ceemac has been trusted by hundreds of families across Central Scotland to handle this most sensitive of tasks with dignity, patience, and genuine care.
"A home holds a lifetime of memories. Every cupboard, every drawer, every corner — it all carries meaning. We never forget that when we walk through the door."
When you've just lost someone you love, the last thing you should have to worry about is the practical task of clearing their home. Yet it must be done — often under the pressure of probate timescales, an estate sale, or a rental agreement.
That is exactly where Ceemac steps in. Since 2013, we have worked alongside bereaved families, executors, and solicitors across Glasgow and Central Scotland. We know how to hold space for grief while getting the job done — efficiently, respectfully, and without making you feel rushed.
We'll work at whatever pace is right for you. If you need to sit for a moment. If you need us to stop. If you'd like us to step outside while you gather yourself. We understand. We've been here before.
Call Us — We're Here to Listen
Every step is designed to reduce your burden — not add to it.
You call or enquire online — whichever feels easier. We'll listen. We'll ask only what we need to know, and we'll answer every question you have honestly. There is no pressure at any stage.
We visit the property at a time that suits you — and at no cost. We assess what's involved, discuss any items of particular importance, and provide a clear written quote. No surprises.
Probate, executry, and estate matters have their own timelines. We are flexible and can often accommodate urgent clearances — or wait patiently when legal matters need time to resolve.
Our team arrives discreetly, works quietly, and handles every item carefully. We set aside anything that may have sentimental or monetary value and check with you before proceeding. You remain in control throughout.
On completion, we provide a full SEPA waste transfer document — a legal record of all items removed and how they were disposed of. This is often required by solicitors and executors during the probate process.
We leave the property clean and ready for its next chapter — whether that's a sale, a rental, or simply handing back the keys. We treat every home as if it were our own.
Ready to talk through what's involved? There's no pressure, no obligation. Just an honest conversation with someone who understands what you're going through.
"My mother passed away in March after a long illness. I live in London and had to organise the clearance of her Glasgow flat from a distance, which felt completely overwhelming. From the very first phone call, the team at Ceemac were wonderful — calm, kind, and completely professional. They kept me informed at every stage, set aside a few items they thought I might want to see before deciding, and sent me photos of the finished property. The SEPA document they provided was exactly what the solicitors needed. I honestly cannot recommend them highly enough. They took something that felt impossible and made it manageable."— Patricia H., Executry Clearance, Giffnock, Glasgow
If you are acting as an executor, a solicitor, or a family representative managing the clearance of an estate, you need a clearance company you can rely on — legally, practically, and professionally.
Ceemac is a fully registered waste carrier with the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA). This means:
Important: Using an unregistered waste carrier can leave you personally liable for illegal waste disposal — even if you were unaware. Always ask for SEPA registration details before appointing a clearance company.
A full bereavement house clearance typically involves a complete property — every room, every cupboard, every space. We manage it all, sorting as we go:
Items in good condition are donated to local charities wherever possible. We'll always separate out anything that may have sentimental or financial value and discuss it with you before making any decision.
No — many families choose not to be present, particularly those who live some distance away or who find it too difficult emotionally. You can leave us a key and we will keep you informed throughout, sending photos if that would help.
If you would prefer to be there, that is equally fine. We can work around your presence and will always check with you before making any decisions about items.
Ideally, remove any items of clear financial or sentimental value that you definitely wish to keep — jewellery, important documents, family photographs. But please don't feel you must sort through everything first. That is our job.
If we encounter anything during the clearance that we think you may want — a photograph album, a piece of jewellery we're unsure about — we will set it aside and contact you rather than making that decision ourselves.
In many cases, yes. The clearance of a property for sale or rental can proceed before probate is fully complete, as long as the executor or next of kin has authorised the work. We can advise based on your specific circumstances, and our SEPA documentation helps satisfy any legal requirements your solicitor may have.
It depends on the size and contents of the property. A typical two- or three-bedroom house is usually cleared in a single day. Larger properties or those with significant volumes of items may require two days. We'll give you an accurate estimate at our free initial visit.
Yes. As a SEPA registered waste carrier, we provide a formal waste transfer note (WTN) on completion of every clearance. This document confirms all waste was removed legally and disposed of responsibly, and is accepted by solicitors and executors for probate and executry purposes.
Yes, absolutely. We frequently work alongside solicitors and estate agents to coordinate the clearance as part of the wider probate and property sale process. Simply provide us with their contact details and we'll liaise directly, keeping you informed throughout.
We prioritise reuse and donation wherever possible. Items in good condition — furniture, clothing, books, kitchenware — are offered to local charities and donation centres. Items that cannot be reused are sorted for recycling. Only what cannot be recycled goes to a licensed waste facility. Everything is handled with respect.
You've been through enough. Let us carry this part for you.
A single phone call is all it takes to get started. We'll answer your questions, discuss your situation at whatever pace feels right, and give you a clear picture of how we can help — with no pressure and no obligation.
We've supported hundreds of families through this. We know how to help.
